About Leanne: Founder of Holistic Care Durham
Hiya, I’m Leanne and I run Holistic Care Durham.
I’m a former NHS nurse with nearly twenty years’ experience, and although I’m deeply proud of that part of my life, it was also the reason I chose a different path, because I could see so many people quietly struggling, waiting far too long for support, and I knew in my heart there had to be another way to help.
The work I do now is calm, grounded and very real. There’s no hierarchy here, no spiritual jargon, and no pressure to be anything other than who you are. I don’t believe in fixing people or telling them what they should feel. I believe in presence, in listening properly, and in creating a space where your body and mind can begin to settle in their own time.
Many women tell me they feel lighter after sessions, like something has shifted or returned to them, even if they can’t quite explain what. Some say they don’t want to get off the treatment bed because it’s the first time they’ve properly relaxed in years, and that feeling of safety and deep rest is often where real change begins.
My work has evolved over many years and continues to do so. I’m always learning, researching and refining what I do, because I genuinely believe in this profession you never stop growing. My autism has become one of my greatest strengths in this, allowing me to focus deeply, notice patterns and hold a steady, grounded presence for the people I work with.
I’m especially passionate about supporting women who have tried everything, who appear strong on the outside but know something still doesn’t feel right, and who are quietly ready for something deeper, even if they don’t have the words for it yet. I love Reiki because I’ve seen, both personally and professionally, how powerful and life-changing it can be when it’s taught and practised in a grounded, authentic way.
My own life has included grief, illness and trauma, and I’ve had to rebuild myself more than once. The techniques I now teach and use every day are the same ones that helped me come back into balance, and that lived experience is a huge part of why I care so deeply about this work.
The clinic itself is designed to feel like coming home. Warm, welcoming and safe. A place where you can take your armour off for a while, say whatever you need to say without judgement, and leave feeling steadier, clearer and more like yourself again.
Alongside 1:1 work, I train Reiki students from beginner through to practitioner and teacher level. My training is practical, supportive and grounded in both traditional Usui Reiki and modern understanding of the body and mind. Students are supported properly, before, during and long after their training, because this isn’t just a course, it’s a journey and a community.
If you feel drawn here, trust that.
You’re very welcome.
Leanne x
