Reiki Attunement for Cancer Care Support

There are times in life when someone you love is going through so much and no matter how present you are, it can still feel as though your hands are tied.

This private offering has been created for family members who feel drawn to support a loved one through cancer care in a more personal, gentle and meaningful way.

This is not a full certificate-style Reiki course, and it is not designed to feel heavy, formal or overwhelming. Instead, it is a calm and grounded half day with me, where I gently teach you about Reiki, how it can be used safely and simply at home, and how to offer it in a way that feels supportive, reassuring and deeply kind.

For many people, this becomes much more than learning a technique. It becomes a way of feeling more involved, more connected and more able to offer comfort when someone they love is facing a difficult time.

Why Reiki can be so supportive

Reiki is gentle, non-invasive and calming. It does not require pressure, effort or anything forceful. It is offered quietly, through presence and light hands-on support, with the aim of bringing a greater sense of calm, comfort and ease.

For someone going through cancer care, Reiki may feel soothing, settling and supportive at a time when the body and mind can feel overwhelmed, frightened, exhausted or simply worn down by everything they are carrying.

It is not about trying to do too much. It is about gentleness, deep presence and care. A way of helping someone feel a little more steady and held.

Why family members are drawn to this

When someone you love is unwell, it is so common to feel helpless. You want to do something, but often there is very little that feels enough. This offering gives you a way to support them in a calm and loving way from home. It can help family members feel:

more involved in their loved one’s care

more confident in how to offer comfort

less helpless and more connected

calmer in themselves

able to bring presence and reassurance during a difficult season

Sometimes that alone can feel incredibly meaningful.

What this private half day includes

During our time together, we will spend a few calm hours going through Reiki in a simple and grounded way. This includes:

how to offer Reiki safely and simply at home

basic hand positions

how to keep sessions gentle, supportive and not overwhelming

guidance around comfort, boundaries and common sense

your Reiki attunement

time to rest, settle and ask questions

a light manual to take away, with nothing too heavy or overwhelming

You do not need to know anything beforehand, and there is no pressure to get it perfect. This is designed to feel supportive, clear and easy to take in. This experience is for a private 121 and also for up to 1 more person at the same cost.

What is a Reiki attunement?

The attunement is the part of the session that opens you to Reiki and allows you to begin working with it yourself. It is a gentle and important part of the process, and from there you can begin offering simple hands-on Reiki support in a calm and natural way.

This support is not only offered in person

Although this is often held in person here at Holistic Care Durham, it is not limited to face-to-face sessions. This private offering can also be arranged online via Zoom as a 1:1 session, which can be especially helpful for those who live further away, are supporting a loved one from a distance, or simply need the flexibility of receiving this guidance from home.

The same calm, personal teaching is still there. We would still spend time together privately, going through Reiki in a simple and grounded way, and I would still guide you through how to offer it gently and safely in support of someone you love. The main difference is that this would be held online, in a quiet 1:1 space, rather than in person at the clinic.

For some people, this actually feels easier. It allows them to take everything in from the comfort of their own home, without needing to travel, whilst still receiving the same care, support and personal guidance throughout.

If you are interested in this offering but would prefer it online, that is absolutely something I can arrange.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle Japanese hands-on healing practice that supports calm, rest and overall wellbeing. It is offered through light touch, with the intention of helping someone feel more settled, comforted and supported. Many people experience Reiki as deeply calming, especially during times of stress, illness, exhaustion or emotional strain.

Why can Reiki feel beneficial during cancer care support?

Reiki can feel especially supportive during cancer care because it is gentle, non-invasive and calming. At a time when someone may feel overwhelmed, frightened, exhausted, in pain or uncomfortable in their own body, Reiki offers deep support, comfort and presence. Many people find it helps them feel more relaxed, more held and supported emotionally, and able to rest more deeply. It is not about doing too much, but about offering calm, tenderness and support when that is often needed most.

Do I need any Reiki experience beforehand?

No. This is designed for complete beginners and is taught in a simple, grounded way.

Is this a full Reiki course?

No. This is not a full certificate-style Reiki training. It is a private half day specifically created for family members who want to gently support a loved one through cancer care.

Will I receive an attunement?

Yes. You will receive a Reiki attunement during our time together, which is what opens you to Reiki and allows you to begin working with it yourself.

Will I get a certificate?

No. This is not offered as a certificate-led course. It is a personal, supportive private session rather than formal practitioner training.

Will I receive anything to take home?

Yes. You will receive a light manual to support you afterwards, though nothing too heavy or overwhelming.

What will I actually learn?

You will learn what Reiki is, how it can be offered gently and safely, basic hand positions, how to support someone at home in a calm and grounded way, and how to approach this with comfort, simplicity and care.

Is this only available in person?

No. Although this is often held in person, it can also be offered as a private 1:1 Zoom session for those who would prefer to receive the teaching and guidance from home. This can be especially supportive for people who live further away or need a little more flexibility.

What if I want to complete the full Level 1 Reiki course?

Yes, absolutely. If after this private attunement you feel drawn to go on and complete the full Level 1 Shoden Reiki course, you are very welcome to do that. The £111 you have already paid for this private cancer care support attunement would be put towards your full training, so you would only pay the remaining £114 to join the full Shoden course. For some people, this private half day becomes a gentle first step, and from there they realise they would love to deepen their connection to Reiki more fully. If that feels like you, I would be very happy to guide you onto the next stage.

Is this only for supporting someone with cancer?

This offering has been specifically created around supporting a loved one through cancer care, so that is its main focus.

Can Reiki replace medical treatment?

No. Reiki is offered as gentle supportive care alongside medical treatment, not instead of it.

How long is the session?

The private session lasts around 4 hours.

Is this in a group?

No. It is a 121 private session with option to add an additional person for the same cost of £111.

What should I wear?

Just come in comfortable clothes and there is no need to bring anything special with you.

What if I feel emotional?

That is completely okay. This is a gentle and supportive space, and many people do arrive carrying a lot.

How do I book?

If you have found yourself here because someone you love is going through cancer care, end of life care, or a deeply difficult chapter, I just want to say that I know this can be an incredibly painful and overwhelming place to stand.

When someone you love is suffering, it can feel unbearable at times. You want to comfort them, ease them, help them, do something meaningful for them, and yet so often there is so much that sits outside of your hands. This is why I hold this offering so gently.

It is here for the family member who wants to bring comfort, calm and loving presence in a way that feels simple, supportive and real. It is here for the person who wants to feel a little less helpless, and a little more able to offer something tender in the middle of a very hard time.

If this feels right for you, you are very welcome to book privately using the link below and if you need to ask anything first, please do reach out. You do not need to come into this already knowing everything. You will be met with warmth, understanding and care.
