KOKORO MAIL CLUB

A monthly piece of the North East, gathered from the land and sent through your letterbox.

Kokoro Mail Club was created for women who still feel drawn to nature, old stories, folklore, intuition and the ways people once paid far more attention to the land around them.

Each month I go out into the landscape of North East England, through woodland, coast, old paths, ruins, rivers, fields and places that have been walked for generations and I spend time noticing what is happening there. I take photographs, make notes, record little pieces of video and collect what comes through during those visits. From all of that, your Kokoro Mail begins to take shape.

Each month's mail is created during that month, from what I experience in the landscape around me.

YOUR MONTH AHEAD

Every Kokoro member receives my psychic interpretation of the month ahead. I read the wider feeling around the Kokoro group while I am out in nature and record the things that repeatedly catch my attention, thoughts, symbols, animals, plants, places, words and those strange little moments that sometimes carry far more meaning than they should.

I then bring those impressions together into your monthly guidance. It is not about predicting every event that is going to happen to you. It is something you can read at the beginning of the month, keep nearby, return to later and sometimes realise, ah... now I understand why that came through.

YOUR KOKORO ORACLE CARD

Every month I create a new oracle card inspired by an actual place, encounter or moment from the North East. The cards are not taken from a pre-made deck. The deck is being created month by month alongside the club as we grow and expand together. The places and encounters come first, then the card comes afterwards.

Each one is illustrated in the distinctive Kokoro style and carries its own meaning and guidance, so over time members will build a complete oracle deck that tells the story of the land, folklore and experiences behind Kokoro.

FOLKLORE, PLANT MAGIC & THE OLD WAYS

I have always been fascinated by the things our ancestors knew because they lived much closer to the seasons than most of us do now. The plants they recognised. and the stories attached to particular trees, flowers, birds and animals. Old charms, household customs, folk beliefs, protective plants, seasonal traditions and the little pieces of local knowledge that were once passed from one person to another rather than searched for on a phone.

Each month I choose something connected with the landscape I have been exploring and bring its folklore into your Kokoro Mail. Some months that may become a talisman bookmark, created around a particular plant, animal or old belief, with words written especially for that month's piece. Something beautiful enough to keep in a book, place on a desk or collect alongside your oracle cards.

MUSIC FOR THE MONTH

Music has always been tied to memory, feeling and place for me, so every month there is also a Kokoro Mixtape. A playlist created for that particular month and accessed through your mail, so you can put it on while making tea, driving, drawing, reading your letter or having an hour to yourself. A little modern part of Kokoro sitting alongside all of those much older influences.

AND THERE IS ALWAYS A SURPRISE...

I don't want Kokoro Mail to become completely predictable. So every month there will also be something extra inside your envelope. It might be something to make, keep, use, read, play with or tuck away with the rest of your collection. October's first members are receiving something I loved doing when I was younger, but future surprises will remain surprises until the envelope arrives. That is part of the fun.

WHAT ARRIVES EACH MONTH?

Your Kokoro Mail will usually include:

- Your monthly Kokoro letter

- Psychic guidance for the month ahead

- A newly created Kokoro Oracle Card

- Folklore, folk belief or seasonal knowledge gathered from my research and travels

- A collectible talisman or bookmark inspired by the month's landscape

- Your Kokoro monthly music playlist

- A postcard or piece connected with the place I have visited

- And a monthly surprise

No two months will be exactly the same and some months may be inspired by woodland. Others by the coast, old ruins, rivers, villages, plants, birds, folklore or something completely unexpected that happens while I am out exploring.

WHY KOKORO?

Kokoro is a Japanese word that is difficult to translate into one English word. It can encompass heart mind, feeling and the inner part of a person, it felt right for this because Kokoro Mail Club isn't really about buying more things. It is about paying attention again to the season you are actually living through, the plants growing beside the path, folklore and stories that almost disappeared. and most importantly to our own intuition. If you love folklore, oracle cards, psychic guidance, nature, old customs, seasonal living, collecting beautiful things and discovering the stories hidden within the landscape of North East England, I think you may feel very at home here… Welcome to Kokoro.
