Shinpiden Reiki Master Teacher Training
Shinpiden means mystery teachings and is the third level of study within this Reiki pathway.
The course brings together deeper personal practice and preparation to teach Usui Reiki Ryoho. Students explore the fourth shirushi and jumon, deepen their meditation practice, study Reiju and attunements, and learn how the teachings of Shoden, Okuden and Shinpiden form one connected system.
The title Master Teacher does not suggest that a person has mastered Reiki or completed their own learning. It marks a commitment to continued practice and a responsibility towards the students they may later teach.

What Is Shinpiden?
Shinpiden may be translated as mystery teachings. Its purpose is deeper personal practice and the direct exploration of the teachings within the system of Reiki.
Although this level includes teacher preparation, it is not only for those wishing to establish a teaching business. Okuden practitioners may attend because they feel ready to deepen their own study without any immediate intention to teach.
The work of Shinpiden is not based on status, hierarchy or becoming more powerful. It asks the student to continue embodying the precepts, meditation and hands-on practice already studied, while exploring the understanding of the great bright light and non-duality within Reiki practice.

The Fourth Shirushi and Jumon
The fourth shirushi and jumon are studied as practices for personal development rather than emblems of rank. They point towards the great bright light and the understanding that Reiki is not something external that the practitioner owns or controls. Students are supported in working with these teachings through meditation, chanting and continued personal practice.
Reiju/Attunements
Students receive Reiju and learn how Reiju/attunements may be offered to others. The course includes practical instruction, repeated practice and discussion of the purpose and responsibility involved. Learning a physical sequence is only one part of teacher preparation. Students also need the personal practice, awareness and integrity required to support others through their Reiki training.
Preparing to Teach
Teacher development includes guidance for teaching all three levels:
- Shoden
- Okuden
- Shinpiden
You will study how to structure courses, explain practices clearly, offer Reiju and attunements, support students and maintain appropriate professional boundaries. The course also considers how to teach history with care. Where evidence is incomplete or uncertain, teachers should be able to distinguish documented information from interpretation and later Reiki stories.
Students are not expected to begin teaching immediately after the course. Time for further practice, study and integration is encouraged.
Continued Development
The three in-person days are supported by continued teacher development. This allows students to revisit the course content, develop their teaching materials and gain a fuller understanding of the practical responsibilities involved in teaching Reiki.
Teacher development may include course planning, manuals, student support, record keeping, ethics, assessment and the practical organisation of training.

Prerequisites
Prerequisites: Completion of an in-person Okuden or Reiki Level Two course within a recognised Usui Reiki lineage.
Applicants should have an established personal Reiki practice and experience of offering Reiki to others.
A conversation with Leanne is required before booking. This provides an opportunity to discuss your previous training, current practice and reasons for wishing to attend Shinpiden.
Students who trained within another lineage may be asked to provide their certificates and complete transition study where needed.
Existing Reiki Master Teachers are welcome to enquire about attending for personal development or to study this approach to Usui Reiki Ryoho.
Master Certification
A Shinpiden Master certificate is awarded after the in-person training and required teacher development have been completed. Certification confirms that the student has completed the training offered within this pathway. It does not suggest that study or personal development has ended. Graduates are expected to maintain their own practice, continue learning and seek guidance when needed.
Teacher Certification
The Reiki Teacher certificate is awarded separately and requires completion of the additional teacher development programme.
This includes:
- Completing the online teacher training and videos
- Studying the Shoden teaching programme in full
- Preparing a complete Shoden course manual
- Developing a clear lesson plan and course structure
- Demonstrating an understanding of how to teach the five elements of Reiki
- Developing confidence in offering Reiju and attunements
- Understanding student support, safeguarding, consent and professional boundaries
- Preparing appropriate certificates and course documentation
- Completing any required teaching practice, reflection or assessment work
The teacher certificate is awarded only after this additional work has been completed to a suitable standard.
This allows students to complete Shinpiden for their own personal development without any pressure to teach, while those who do wish to become Reiki teachers receive the preparation and support needed to do so responsibly.
